look at my thread once I got the wood out of the transom on both sides are plitting holes i believe from pressure treated wood. if you leave it in a couple years I don't think it can hurt but over time it can get bad

This boat had treated wood in it when I got it and didnt notice any damage. Guess i got lucky?

Welcome someone11! Nice rig you got there! :thumb: Too bad that you didnt find us sooner :-(

You definitely got lucky with the p.o. who likely used a rare p.t. wood that was made without copper. your sprayrail will be swiss cheese in no time.

I hadnt even thought about the fact that the previous owner likely used non-copper PT, which was replaced w whats available now, which has copper, which is what attacks the aluminum hull.

Good catch Classic.....

Hope for the best.

Heres some updated pics. I got it done a week before last. Ive just been busy and I have no internet at home besides data on the phone which i dont have a lot of. I get wireless internet when im away for work so I can post some more pics now. Was able to get out and do some fishing on the big lake with the new boat. Works wonderfully, just cant wait till I get my 15 horse back from the shop to troll with. Even with a 5 gallon bucket behind the boat it still trolls too fast at times.

Went for a test run on torch lake in MI to see how the boat trolled and rode in the water with the 15 horse. Couldnt keep it running right but it sure was a nice night out.

Got out fishing for lake trout out of Charlevoix. Was 3/3.

Girlfriend was happy and got her dad some fish for the smoker.

So if you arent supposed to use treated wood, how do you keep the non treated wood from rotting? Im not tearing up my flooring now because its all done. So whatever happens is going to happen as far as corrosion goes. This is a fishing boat so there will be water on the boat- i fish in the rain no problem.

I don't put any wood on my boat unless it has a couple coats of marine quality epoxy resin soaked into it. If you put say three coats of West System Epoxy on a plywood floor before covering it with carpet or vinyl that most likely will be the last floor that you ever put in it.

Mod EDIT no links to your boat for sale

So you can post links to other peoples boats for sale but not your own? Thats odd. Oh well

Mod EDIT: should have been more clear, no discussion OR links to your oen boat for sale, unless you buy a for sale ad in the Boats for Sale classifieds section. Theres a link at the top of the forum pages if you wish to buy an ad. If you do, you can link that ad here.
