Nice boat. I like the lines on those old MFG's, they really LOOK like old wood boats. They handle well in the water, too- Well worth the restoration effort.

Hey Evan .... there are plenty of threads on different ways to replace your transom you just have to do a search, read and ask questions. I cut the glass off of mine from the inside and cleaned out all of the mushy rot that used to be my transom because I planned on replacing it with wood. You may want to dig all of your transom wood out from the top and pour in seacast or a product like that instead of replacing the wood. There are different ways of repairing your transom, you just have to figure out which is best for you. My thread shows how I went about ( with tons of help from this forum ) replacing mine with wood and sp shows how he did his with Seacast and there are tons of other helpful threads on this forum that will guide you. This may be a great place for you to start .... lots of reading but full of great info: http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=234392

Hey Evan on your photo bucket just hover over the pic you want to post a box will show up . Scroll all the way down to the img code click on it and it will flash copied go back to your post right click then left click paste where you want it and your done.
If you are on a budget it would be a lot cheaper to go back with plywood on the transom. Seacast will never rot but it is about 210 $ plus shipping for a 5 gal pail. I am guessing you would need at least 2 - 5 gal pails maybe more. Go to there web site and they have a calculator to help figure how much it would take. Just fill in the blanks.
Now if you go with wood and do it correctly and seal all penetrations and store the boat proper it should last a very very long time. The trick is to stay on it with maintenance and frequent inspections .
Like Jon said earlier do not cut the outside skin out to remove the wood . It can be done but you really should avoid it..
Post some pics of the splash and how it is attached to the sides of the boat. You will prolly need to remove it to get to the transom But it can be glassed back in later .
