Well I guess you could consider me a newby to iboats. I have read a lot on here but never joined. Now that I'm finally to the point of restoring the deck on my skiff I'm here for a few questions. So I completely disassembled the boat and cut out the fiberglass floor and the removed what was left of the "so called wood". Then was the fun part of the foam removal. Now that I've gave you some background here's the first question: I left about an 1 1/2"tab of the fiberglass floor around the whole perimeter of the boat. Should I grind it off flush or leave it?

Welcome to Iboats..

You can leave it for now ( for dry fitting your deck back ) .. but your gonna have to cut it off at some point and do fresh glassing.

So just grind it as flush as I can get it with the hull correct?

Thats what I would do.. I like to get in there and grind what I need to grind..then goto the wood phase..then the layups.

I mean.. measure and mark so your exact or close to it before you grind it all off :) .. some kind of measurements would be helpful in the rebuild..

I measured everything to make sure the rebuild is the same as the factory. What do I need to do to prep the fiberglass hull so that I can tab the new floor to it? (sand, grind, clean or all of the above?)

I like to grind it with some 24-36 grit on a 4.5" grinder. Always wipe down with acetone before lams or putty.
