Can a low float height cause starting and idling issues when I took the carbs apart I noticed one float is lower than the other in the bowl the motor sounds like is backfiring from running too lean I have good strong spark it jumps 7/16 Good compression but it just does not want to run any help is appreciated

Thanks for the quick response I was wondering since I dont really have a accurate way to measure the float height would it be ok to set it little bit higher I rather have it running rich than lean

1. Set properly is right on the hairy edge of flooding.
2. If you re-use the gaskets, the little gasket in the middle will probably fail and flood.

All you need is a tin pocket ruler, or the paper thing that comes in a kit to set it close enough.

The kit I bought from this site did not come with anything for float adjustment so what I was going to do is make a measurment out of peace of paper or something and use that but make it more towards rich side just to be safe thank you for your advise hope that I finally get this right

Don't try to adjust mix with the float. Set it as close to right as you can. Stock jetting is plenty fat so don't sweat the mix.

Ok i got the rest of the carburetors apart and i found that holes in the top of the carbs are clogged With junk i dont know how this stuff got past the filter so im soaking the carbs in some chem dip the manual that i got says to adjust the float height to 1/16 is that correct

Sounds right. The debris is probably from the fuel lines between the filter and the carbs.

Like I said a couple of times before, don't try to out think the designer. Just do things by the book.

Ok got it thank you gonna put them back on first thing in the morning and link+sync hopefully she fires up
