Does anybody had this boat before or similar kind and zise. I would like to buy something like this zise to go fishing in san diego as far as 20 to 50 miles from shore what do you think. If you have never own a small boat less than 19' and have nothing good to say please keep your coments for yourself.

My boat is 17' but I have nothing good to say about this plan.

I doubt a boat this size even has the fuel capacity to go 100 miles in the ocean. Then there is the issue of small boat/big water. I don't know anything about the boat in question other than that it's a center console outboard, but I can't fathom ANY boat in this size range being safe or comfortable for this.

You are right, the gas would be a problem or not but If you say is not comfortable i believe you since you have something similar where do you boat at?

Hudson River, once I get the boat finished.

But I've been on the Hudson a number of times in similar boats to mine, as well as bass boats. A Seahunt will take the rough stuff better than my lightweight bowrider, but the open ocean is a horse of a different color.

Offshore, one should consider a boat that will take twin engines and two or more independent gas tanks

I have a sea hunt 21 (triton). First, you have to say what model: the bay boats are not good for off shore. Second, 17 is mighty small to go offshore at all. While I don't agree that second engines are absolutely necessary, it depends.
Look at least at the 19 and choose your days.

Find, after good replies I'll start getting real and think safety first for me and hoever is with me. So can anyone recomend a 18' or 18'5 the would be a good choice for at least a 40 miles out also notice I am not looking for speed boat I know that if waves are 3 to 5 or 6 feet or more I'll be going 2 to 5 mph. Thanks

Re: 17'5 sea hunt cc

IM no expert.but I have been offshore in smaller boats more than I would have liked to after some of the experiences Ive had.The problem w smaller boats is when the weather gets ugly unexpectedly;trouble for bigger ones too.but smaller boats cannot go as fast safely when you really want to get back to shore as fast as you can in worsening cond.If you plan and prepare well and pick your days to venture out w the forcasts in mind you should be OK.A GPS, compass and a good marine radio are also mandatory, along with all other safety equipment.and monitor radio for warnings and alerts while out there. going far can be dangerous if wind and or current are against you when you want to come back, you may run out of fuel because of them before reaching safe waters. When we used to do this years ago in the Atlantic we always went w two or more boats in our fishing floatilla trying to stay within 5/10 miles of each other or less in case of emergencys or worse.the ocean always feels larger to me in a smaller boat!and Ive learned to fear and respect it as most everyone w any sense at all has!!a beautiful day can turn ugly quickly out there.if theres any doubt about the weather Id stay closer to land!
