Re: 175hp blackmax 1987 oil alarm

thanks everyone.

I checked some stuff and nothing really came up. So I went back to the DVA testing. Started with the stator. came back good.
Found the trigger to be at fault. Put in a spare Trigger I happend to have laying around. DVA tested new trigger and it came back as good. Fired motor up on the garden hose outback. sounds good. No alarm sounding at idle.
The test will be on the water this weekend.
Thanks for all the great help. Aswome place we have here!!!
I will report back after the trip out on the water.

that is crazy, I did not know that the trigger had anything to do with the alarm...learn something new every day. DVA testing is the way to go, I got a dva adapter a few years back for $25, I have become the go to guy for outboard diagnoses.

Tank and associated alarm is working very well since 1987. Keeping it maintained is not that difficult. The system works very well and is extremley reliable. I will keep it for now.
