This came up a week or so ago, and I posted it in the SC @ CL/Ebay thread.... Then it ate at me for a couple days, and I contacted the seller, from there it wasn't an if question, it was a when....

As my employment situation becomes less questionable, and it has for the foreseeable future, this will be a long term, backburner project. I know there hasn't been much (any) progress over on either of my 2 current (??) threads. And it now looks like this won't be sticking around either:

IMAG0542.jpg

The 1963 Jupiter I've had stashed for a while..... It came to me gutted & is missing some of the interior tin at the splashwell & along the starboard gunwale. So that's about all for that :)

Now for the point of all of this:

As far as the BOAT goes, the helm dash panel appears to be the only 'real' damage needing to be addressed soon to prevent further damage. There is a weld along the port chine/splash rail and there are 2 cracks on the splashwell, but the bones & parts & pieces all seem to be in pretty good shape.

It's on a bunk tilt trailer that will need attention, but pulled just fine on the way back. The trailer tires were worse then I expected & the seller gave me the wrong size, so the 2 spares I brought didn't fit. But it is here, in WV and tucked in safe & sound.

Clearly a Holiday, but not firm on year...
The details:
Length: 18' 6" +/-
Max Beam across at the helm: 7' +/-
Transom Beam: 6' 6" +/-
Transom height: 20"

Something entirely unfamiliar territory:

Buy a boat & drag it home in less then a week.... Who'd have thunk it???

A bunch of the debris was chucked overboard shortly after pickup......

I now own 3 of these built in tanks. The 1 above, and 2 matching 18gal in the 'free' donor:

With the Mercruiser 120 & outdrive

This shows 1 of the splashwell cracks, the other matches this 1 on the starboard side:

Don't figure I did too bad for $350 total for the boats, motors & trailers. Plus the cost of an extra round trip in gas.

Got to take care of the honey-do's I missed yesterday  Just not enough time in the day, I don't reckon......

JB - $350 + gas ain't bad. Judging by the S/W cracks, the transom wood is long gone. She looks fairly complete, at least enough to use as patterns/reference when putting her back together. I bet the Merc is the original motor. If it still has a serial no. plate, very easy to date. Parting out the glasser could recoup the total cost, including gas. The M/C 140 isn't frozen or stuck, is it?

Wear a hard hat while taking care of the honey-do's. She can strike at any moment.

Parting out the glasser could recoup the total cost, including gas. Yep, that's the plan. May even keep 1 of the tanks for another boat project. I have now officially limited out!

The M/C 140 isn't frozen or stuck, is it? I didn't even look except to take some quick measurements, it's a 120 & look for some ID: Sport-Craft C-Gull ?? ?? 17' 6" with a bow swimming cesspool

Yep, fortunately the boat storage isn't in plain view...

Thanks CBK, after some personnel changes, I just have more hats to wear at work. More invaluable? There is unfortunately no one else that works for us that can operate all the specialty stuff we do, has any idea where projects & proposals stand, and work in the field w/ the crews. So that is going to make me a very busy guy, but, hard to let go, or replace. And although we haven't landed on a firm # yet, it will include an increase. And I'm firm at 25% minimum, and I'm starting at 30%, so yeah that's going to help the project boat budgets.

I think you can safely assume the cesspool is water tight. I don't know where I came up with a 140. It's possible that if you can get the Sport Craft running with minimal cash outlay that you could flip it. Save the better trailer for the Holiday and sell a glass I/O boat with trailer. Easy for me to say from 600 miles away, doncha know.

Um, another metal boat hoarder! I feel like the midwest supply of cheap alum rigs might be threatened!

S/N 3111162

1150 (115.0) 3023086 - 3270479 1971

From here which is linked from here, a link from the Merc FAQs in the iboats outboard forums.

So it's a '71 Merc 1150.

Hmm Perhaps a '71 Holiday then.

Nope wrong length, as far as I can tell not a '70 or '72 either. Thanks for narrowing down the motor GA, appreciate it!

White on white hull/topsides. Or an off-white. Definitely doesn't look like a faded cream, but I suppose it might be. That, and with the 2tone blue vinyl & the 18' 6" length I figured I could narrow it down, but not so far..

Okay, I found my way over here via the link in your signature. Man, I am having trouble tracking your inventory: Jetstar (gone, right?); Jupiter (also gone???), leaving you with the (Red) Fireflite and this Holiday and your little woody (the paddle boat, that is)...

i like this Holiday... One of my favorite SC models... Lots of options there for a cool rebuild...

The Jet isn't mine, but gone, nope  The boss had a set back w/ his Admiral, and missed his delivery window. He's paid, but hasn't taken delivery.... Wrapped for the winter.

Jupiter on the block, yep, gone nope
duh.gif
Not yet wrapped....

The Holiday is awaiting the boat cover I ordered, and was supposed to be here Sat, but still not here.... So it too shall be put to sleep for the winter this week......

I too love the size, proportions & space on the Holiday. It will be a nice to have the 18' with the 15' FireFlite, in disrepair in the garage. It will be an interesting spring to see which progresses faster..

I have a donor boat to pick up still (SportCraft pix above)

The donor FireFlite is off it's trailer, and has been scavenged. Just not sold/removed.... Not wrapped

And in addition to the plywood boat, there's another, unspecified, boat wrapped for the winter too..

else the Admiral shall be after me:

Carp, I need that mule, pole barn & 20 acres.....

Please don't ask about motors....

Oh wow! Its even more interesting than I thought.....

I would start with the holiday if I were you... Don't get me wrong, I love the lines on your fireflite, and I want to see it restored... However, I think you will see more immediate rewards (more cheaply) and be on the water....

Just my .02.

Re: 18' Holiday OB ~ the Backburner project

From my 1st SC thread:
To all that visit this dark & dusty corner of the iboats dry dock, SC division:
HappyNewYearSmileyWavesSnow.gif

Everyone please have a safe & happy new year's this year.

Remember how lucky we all are to have something to occupy what ever time we have to dedicate to project rigs, some place to work on them (however ill-suited, cramped and often 'just' the yard out front/back), and Admirals that tolerate (help, support, maybe even encourage if you're lucky enough) our attempts at boat rehab/restoration. Many are not so lucky. Although I have limited funding, a poor work space, and often the wrong tool for the task at hand, I still consider myself extremely fortunate and thankful.

A great big thank you to all who make this site possible, and to the fella's that make it so great: Thanks for a helluva year! I've learned a ton, and I hope to have been some help to others.
