I have been working on a 1957 18 Hp Evinrude Fastwin. When I took the power head I accidently stripped two of the studs holding the power head onto the rest of it. I need to take those out, what is the best way of doing that and are the reverse thread or not?

Salt water bolt seizure and consequently breaking them inside the crankcase it's the worst possible scenario. Are the threads visible or were broken flush with the mating surface ?

On a 1957 model 18 HP you would find 3 studs in the exhaust housing.----The studs are not in the block !!----Perhaps use heat and a vice grip to remove them.---Welding a nut on the stud is another option.-----They are a right hand thread.

Thank you for the suggestions I will try them out when I get the chance.
