18 or 25 hp merc.

I picked up a mercury outboard, 2 stroke, guy said it was a 25hp but he put a 18hp cover on it because the lake he fished in had a 20hp limit. After looking up the serial # I found out it was a 1982. However I cant find out if this is an actual 25hp motor or an 18hp. Is there a simple way to tell? Thanks

Im not sure how you figured that out but thank you. It starts and runs, has good compression, whats a fair asking price for it??
