18 pitch to a 21 pitch prop

well after some awesome help and info I finally got the boat cruising.....I did change props to a 18 when I was running a 21 before that.....I was told a 18 would give me better hole shot in pulling people outta the water....but I noticed the top end was 28 to 30.....with the 21 I was getting 42 at wot does this seem right??? I have a f5 150.... 1989 dash 1992... model frankenstein

Seems like a lot of difference in speed.


Only real way to know what is going on is to know your wide open throttle rpm with each prop.

Also need to know the wot recommended range for your motor.

If you have a tach, need to know the engine RPM's with the different props.
