180 mer alter

i have a 1987 regal sebring.the alt has gone bad.i know they sell a conversion kit.but i dont think i have room in front of the crank balancer to fit the new pully on the balancer is there a way i could mount the alt and use the power steering belt to drive the alt? thanks don

Anything is Possible..............<br />It Depends on How Creative You are building Brackets, Etc.............

Which part of the ALT. system failed? The stator or the water cooled regulator. Rebults units are available for both.

im not sure maybe the magnet fell off,when i crank the motor i hear something inside ,

there was an add on kit,after market.Then it went off market due to legal problems (maybe using the merc logos).<br /> I haven't thought about this unit for a few years,but didn't Mercruiser offer it after that point? DHP
