Just for the record (and to help any future passer-byers) the carb rebuild on my M18C2 worked wonders for this motor. It's an extremely easy carb to work on, there aren't too many gaskets/seals and I was able to get by without harming any (which had been my biggest fear since parts seem to be hard to come by and not cheap if you do). The small Pilot Jet in the top of the carb, under that shiny plate, has such a teeny tiny little orifice that was about 90% clogged it's no wonder the thing couldn't idle. The Main Jet in the bottom of the bowl, and Main Nozzle, were also crudded up a bit. I soaked all the junked up parts in some Seafoam, used Throttlebody/Intake cleaner and compressed air to clean all passages out, and carefully picked the remaining gunk out of the small orifices with some small metal picks (then redid the TB cleaner/air combo on all parts). All said and done the mixture screw seems happy at about 1 1/8 turns out, and this motor runs like a champ! I took it out to the lagoons for a test run and it will idle at trolling speed all day long, and WOT it gets right up and goes. Very nice motor!
