Hello,
My family is thinking about this boat. The price seems a little too good to be true..... dealer wants 18,550 out the door. It's a 2008 left over and loaded. I have not seen to many Monterey's around here in MI though. I'm just curious what you guys think? We just sold our 1986 19' Bayliner, so all the boats we've been looking at seem great:D

It's a good enough boat. I think you'd be happy with it. That said, the last leftover I bought was a SeaRay 240 Overnighter. It was a 1995 model and I bought in brand new in 1998 for average NADA retail for a 3 year old used boat plus a little since the warranty was worth something to me. I'd suggest that that should be close to the price you'd want to pay becuase thats excatly what the boat will be worth the day you buy it. And make sure it has at least a 4.3L in it preferrably a 5.0

I was reading a couple of his threads..... were they about this boat??? If so I'm a bit afraid of buying this boat.

Funny how the dealer tells you Its the best craftsmanship on any paticular boat you show interest in. I really like the looks of it... has the 4.3L, extended swim platform, front stow away ladder, rear wash, removable carpet, 2 covers, bimi, and a couple other cool add-ins. But all the add-ins in the world don't equal a good reliable boat... just looking for opinions from the pro's around here.

The Monterey is about as good as any of them. Unfortunately there is no such thing as a "high quality" 19' runabout. If there were no one would buy it because it would cost about twice any other boat. The Monterey and it's 19' competitors are all reasonably safe in sheltered waters. The most reliable option would be the one with the lease amount of gizmos as those neat little acoutrements will eventually fail.

No personal experience, but I've heard that Monterey's are excellent boats. Would certainly be a step up from your Bayliner.

I recently bought an 2004 Monterey 190ls, pretty similar boat. I think it's a great boat, runs real smooth. Quality is very good. I've got the 5.0 and it's pretty quick considering the heft of the boat.
