I have a 1946 3hp Sea King that I just put back. I am used to working with the Johnson/Evenrue 5.5hp (mid 50's to 63), the head on the 3hp seams to run a little warmer than the 5.5s. Not hot, more like a cup of coffee w milk.
The impeller is good and all passages are clean and it's spraying water from the back.
