As usual I've acquired another antique that needs love. First impression is she looks to be OK. Good compression and fuel system is solid...nice the lines are copper and don't rot lol. My big issue is in ignition I believe. There is voltage registered on my multimeter via the plug wires when engine is rotated. But my issue is those old rotted plug lines and ends that are useless now. Anyone ever replaced these and converted the end to a more modern plug boot? I'm gonna check the contacts and such and readjust or clean if need be.

Also an exact year would be appreciated. Attached is a pic of the ID plate!

Your motor is a 1949. As you are aware, the wires are soldered to the coils. No problem if you are experienced in soldering such things. Otherwise, not a good place to learn ($$). Plug boots are no problem, available at any marine dealer or right here at iboats.

The more I look at it the more I think the wires are OK. Just need boots lol! Thanks for the year! I figured it was a post war due to the sea green paint job. Nice to know a solid year!

Does anyone know of compatible parts for the ignition system? Im about to check the points clearance and such. Usually the condensers are the culprit in my experience. Any subs?

That motor has a really good ignition should not need to replace much if anything. Your motor I believe has the old style coils in it. They do not have the problems of the newer ones they started using in the 50s.

Well I got it apart and cleaned the points and the coil face and heels. Any good advice to test these condensers and coils without a fancy tester?
