I got this motor in a yard sale about 25 years ago and it sat in my garage and now I would like to get it running. The engine is not seized. It's got 2 cylinders so I removed the plugs and will either replace them or clean and re-gap. I removed the flywheel to examine the coil, points and condensers but I don't see any points. How does it work without them? I've attached a photo.
How do I lubricate the lower unit? There is a large screw about mid way up. Do I just remove it and put grease in it?
Also, can someone send me service, parts and instruction manuals for this motor?

Look a little closer.----The points are right there !!---Right beside the condensers,-------If you need some pointers on the points visit ----aomci.-----Lots of folks there.----I think I have about 10 sets of those points on hand here.

If you are going to be infected with the oldies restoration bug you need to get yourself a copy of the red Johnson service manual :)

As suggested visit the AOMCI Ask a member site specializing in restoring old motors back to the 20's

p.s. boatinfo link site no long exist

That magneto used on your motor is very reliable, most working fine today after all these years.

As for the points, they are difficult to properly clean in place. I suggest removing them and take them completely apart, degrease everything, and polish each contact individually. Reassemble and set gap to 0.020' at widest opening. Do one set at a time so you have a sample of how they go together. And don't lose any of the small pieces.
