Thank you for your continued interest. It took forever for the spring temperatures to warm up for paint stripping so I had to put the Aerocraft on hold and get the pontoon and fishing boat ready for the water. Finally last month I spent alot of time using chemical stripper and a pressure washer to remove about 95% of the old paint. It doesn't look like much was there in previous pics but actually there was a fair amount and four or so different colors were present. There are some stubborn areas left that I'll need to spend more time on still. Last week we actually floated it on the lake just to see how it sat in the water with various weights to represent the motor, gas tank etc. It's probably the first time the boat has seen water in 20 years or so, kind of a proud moment for her even if just being paddled around. I'll try to post some pics of that. The reality is it will not be used this summer and my son and I have agreed to make it a priority to have it ready as soon as the ice goes out for next spring. As far as the modifications go I will keep it simple and true to the original design as much as I can although with updated engine. The weight of the added aluminum and rivets will be less then 5 lbs altogether. But I do appreciate keeping things simple and will keep that in mind Fleetwin. Hey any chance any pictures survived of skiing behind one of these machines? That's some pretty cool history.
