I have a 1949 Johnson QD-10 10hp. I have found very little information about it only that it was the first 10hp Johnson made. Is this motor rare??

Re: 1949 QD-10 Rare??

It was the beginning of a run of 14 years of fine engines, Bill.

It was discontinued after 1963 to make room for the 9.5hp MQ series that fit on "under 10hp" lakes.

Not particularly rare. There are probably thousands still in regular service.

It uses Champion J4C plugs gapped at .030" to .040" and the points are set at .020".

Use a 24:1 mix for fuel; unleaded regular and TC-W3 outboard oil.

Good luck. :)
