hello all, i have a problem. i have a TN25 1950 5 hp johnson and one of my coils is bad. the problem that i have is that the coil is not the one that everyone has a replacement for. most replacements are flywheel magneto coils thatface the flywheel for the magnets. my magneto is a metal disk with magnets that slips down over the crankshaft and the coils face instead of the flywheel. hope thats not too confusing, hard to explain without a drawing. anyway... does anyone have any idea of where i can find one of these coils or has a way been devised to "create your own" using the old coil??? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks!!!!
<br /><br />I thought you had two non-functional coils. Good luck finding a replacement. They shouldn't be too hard to find - I'm suprised TCOutboards didn't come through for you.<br /><br />PS - if you have an old lawn mower shop around, try taking one of your coils to them. I think they were used in some real old lawn-boy engines back when OMC owned them too. Don't let them know they're from an outboard.
