I picket up a nice 1950 -1955 vintage Firestone 3.6 motor. Ordered a new decal and stripping off all the old paint. All seems to be fine mechanically except I need a gasket for the take-apart lower unit and not sure about what grease to use in the lower unit. Any help would be appreciated...Thanks

It takes grease. Most people use Lubriplate 105 "Motor Assembly Grease" from NAPA Auto parts stores, or John Deere "Corn Head Grease" from John Deere dealers. The Lubriplate comes in a handy squeeze tube. Make your own gasket.

Thanks for your input. Will do. Really did not want to make a gasket, but so be it.................

Not that hard to do. I made one for my 54 Firestone and it worked just fine.
