I bought this old boat out of a junk yard for the trailer and the engine. Now it has grown on me. It has beautiful lines and for setting around for 30 years or so it is in good shape. Then engine just needs a lower unit and that is almost finished.
Anywho, it is a plywood boat. The work will be in taking off the old varnish I guess it is. Some plywood in the cockpit so to speak will need replacing. Is there a special marine plywood I should look for? What kind of varnish or what ever should be used on the wood. The deck is all varnish too and worn and soiled but again, still solid. But I think I might put carpet on the floor. Maybe. Maybe not.
Any ideas on how to remove the old varnish? Paint stripper does not seem to touch it. What did they use in the 50s?
