I have a CD-12 that I am converting to a long shaft. I need some help figuring out how to remove the water tube, so I can replace it with a longer one.. Does it pull out from the bottom or is there something to loosen up under the powerhead?

Thanks,

Scott

If I remember properly, there is a sort of retainer on the top of the tube, I think you are going to have to pull the power head.
Don't you have to remove the power head to disconnect the shift linkage, you can replace the tube at the same time.

I have the power head off already. Here is a picture of the top of the tube.

Looks like I have to get a big screwdriver and back this out? It doesn't want to budge, just don't want to break anything I don't have to.

Soak it with a lot of penatrating oil of some type, couldn't hurt.

I spent some time trying to free this up. After letting soak with penetrating oil overnight, I heated the housing and tried to back this out. It wouldn't back out and felt like the housing would break if I tried any harder.

I drove the copper tube out and found out that this is swedged in place not threaded in. Under this steel fitting is a compression ferrule that is crimped onto the water tube.

The only thing I can think of is to drill out the steel fitting and then figure out how to seal this up later.

I was planning on using this motor on my vacation next week. Starting to get a little stressed out

Why not just add a 5" extension?

I wish I thought about that before driving out the original tube. Now I think I have to get this apart to get any tube back in there.
