This motor runs perfect. But uses alot of gas. The small tank mounted on the motor isnt enough. Looking at the motor from the carb side(front) it has a small steel tube that comes out of the bottom of the cowl. This tube puffs air(blows) . Can I run that to a pressure tank and another to the carb and not have to use the small tank?

Also what plug is recomended for this motor?

Question /Answer #1---No. That tube is a crankcase drain. Besides, the bottom feed carburetor won't work with pressure feed because it holds the float valve closed. I know because I tried it.

#2---J6C

Re: 1955 Gale 5 Horse ..Question

How long should this small engine mounted fuel tank run before being out of gas?

Run time at full throttle approximately 1 hour. according to the 1955 specs.
Carefull adjustment of the high speed needle will assure the best gph (gallons per hour). Don't try to adjust too lean.
Careful trim and weight placement/elimination will help you make more speed
so you can cover distance a little quicker.
The right boat will plane easily about 12 mph.with a tiller extension and a 180 lb adult in the middle seat.
