1956 5.5 Johnson Carb Help

I am new to the forum but hopeing someone can help me. I have a 1956 Johnson outboard a CD-15 I think. I got some bad fuel mix (dirty) and believe have clogged up the carb. I know a liitle bit about engines (lawn mowers) but have never worked on a outbaord and am kind of scared to with it age. I was hopeing someone might be able to give me some ideas as how to take it apart and what to check. I know on must lawm mowers it is usaly clogged idle jets I am assuming the same for outboards.

Engines turns over with fuel straight to plug holes, thats why guess card issue.

I have been in a 54 3hp and a 57 5.5 and they are very similar to the two lawn tractors I have had apart. You should be just fine.

Be very meticulous about cleaning it. The passages and jets are very small on these little carbs and it's easy to miss a piece of crud in a passage. I soak them, use compressed air and spray carb cleaner to get everything out.

They are easy to clean. It will take you longer to re and re the carb then it will to rebuild it. But you should get a carb kit. They're only about $20.

I would love a copy of your parts manual for the 56. I believe mine to be a 56 but the data tag is missing, any thoughts on that as well.
