I know because the rings are snapped ,I found that out when I tour the engine down . I have searched ebay looking for them but have had no luck . I have been searching the web every where but it seems no one carries them , I found someone in Oregon that has old pistons but does not sell the rings . Could I use used rings if I can't find new one's ?

I would think that unless you have some personal emotional attachment to that motor you would be money ahead to find another motor. They are not that rare.

Is the ring set that expansive ? that it would not be worth putting into it ?

Re: 1956 evinrude 7.5

Would it be wise to replace both . Would it make it a different compression reading or would it make a difference ??????? cause one cylinder would have old rings and one would be new ????

It may make a big difference in compression, which is not good. However, its not uncommon to only do one cylinder. You should hone both cylinders, though. I know some folks only replace the top ring and reuse the bottom rings on really old outboards where the supply of rings is limited to very expensive NOS parts.
