Hey guys I was out on the Lake yesterday and the Old girl was running great. When I rebuilt the motor the top plug wire was rubbed raw from bouncing off the cowling during operation. I rebuilt the electrical system (points, condensers, coils, wires, boots and plugs) put her out on the lake and ran great. Now my problem is I have only ran her for about 8 hours and now the wire is rubbed raw again. I do have extra plug wire so that is not the problem but its a bit of a chore to open the flywheel and change it. So I was wondering is there some way to shield the cable so that this will not occur again . I was thinking that perhaps I could slip a small diameter spring around the outside of the wire to protect it from rubbing, will this spring rub through the cowling eventually though? My other solution would be to wrap the wire in electrical tape and then when the tape wore through I could just re-wrap it.
