Nice paint job there. I can't wait to see the all-assembled project. You have to post the final for this. Seems you did a great job with everything. Like I stated before, it can get addicting... :thumb: :thumb:

Re: 1956 Johnson 15hp re-painting

All done! I'm clearly no expert, but not bad for a rattle can job. I'm really happy with the result and can't wait to get her on the water. I was pretty dissapointed with the decal set that I got. They are vinyl stickers and they look good enough, but I've seen better. The red matches the engine really well, but the white color is just plain white which really stands out on the faceplate. I'm going to try and find a better version and redo that when I can.

Thanks for all your help and advice!

I decided to leave all exposed brass parts bare metal because I think it looks cool! I know it's not the way they were designed.

Running on the back of the finned glass/tin boat I don't think anyone will notice the variations in the white nor the bare brass.

Looks great! Hope she runs as well as she looks.

Drowned Rat, you should be extremely proud of that engine. She looks amazing. And as far as color shades, I'd leave it just like it is. Too many time we see things that we know are not quite right, but other can't see them unless you point them out. That's true of most any project... Nice professional job... Very well done and I like the color combination. :first:

What is going to be your next project now?
