Yamhill? Never heard of it. Of course I've never been to Oregon though... How big is it?

Yamhill? Or Oregon? LOL:D:D Yamhill is probably just over 1100 people now. It sure has grown a lot in the last 5 years. There are three new housing developments that has really perked up the size a bit.

yea. you know it's funny, when I see pics of neatly restored outboards in someone's living room. :D:D:D I say: "Hey, there a single man" LOL Oddly enough though, my new lady likes to hang out and watch me work on my projects and also helps out.:D

Well, I replaced the broken swivel tube in this "diamond in the rough" I found an ad on Craigslist for a couple OMC tanks for $10.00 each. So, I went down and snatched them up. Well, while I was there, I spent some time chattin with this ol' boy and asked him if he had a swivel tube for my old 18. There was an endless supply of old Merc parts but very little OMC stuff, but he happened to have what I needed. $20.00 and the part was mine.:D

i love the 18's I have a few, my obsession with out boards started with a '58 i traded for a pr of old tires in holiday bronze with a blue rude lower with the original in a box, then something happened and i wound up with a trailer full of old motors and boxes of NOS parts. Then I put the word out i was looking for old motors people were tired of tripping over. I have now a matching pr of '58's, a matching pair 1960's and a newer rude still waiting for me tp match it up with a lower and a 64 with a cracked block waiting for me to take the powerhead off another rude with no stator plate or lower. I love them as everything interchanges, not that heavy to lift by myself, and can push a lot of different types of craft, fast on a small boat and steady but sure on a bigger one , even a pontoon boat if your not in a hurry.

Yea, one of my first outboards was an oldie like the one I posted here. It was in a bit better shape than the one here, but once I get moved, that will change.

I read a pretty good article on the old 18, being a favorite among the crabbers, several years back and the 57 - 58 model was of course the favorite. That, of course was because of the quality of the parts that put it all together. :D:D
