Paul,<br /> I asked you the other day about the lower crank seal . I changed it and the motor is running perfectly. Thanks a million . It pushes a 26'5" pontoon boat 26 mile per hour now. I borrowed a prop from a lark 5 motor from my neighbor because the newfound power spun my hub out . lol. You should see his lark 5 . it has been run 4 times since new. long shaft electric shift. beautiful motor. looks like it was just unpacked from the box.he asked me the value and was wondering if you may know ? anyhow thanks again .

Thanks for the comeback!<br />If you're hunting for a new prop, you might want to give a 12" pitch prop a try to get the revs up. But 26mph is pretty good too. The prop you have on there now should be a 14" prop - see if you can find any numbers on it. They may be behind the thrust washer, just behind the drive pin.<br /><br />Sorry, I can't help much with the value except to say it would be real dependant on finding the right buyer. Market conditions here are so totally different.

Paul,<br /> The prop from the lark 5 is 10 3/8 X 14 and the motor seems to handle it well. I am going to get my 2 10 3/8 X 12's rehubbed to have a spare. Then will give her a try . I dont have a tach but she sounds like a wildcat compared to before. Going to look into getting a tiny tach for it soon . I'm planning on setting up a recovery line from the crankcase drain valves to see how much gas is going out there. Not so much for gas savings but to see whats going on in the crankcase. any idea on top rpm's on these old twins ? Thanks paul

If you're making an honest 26mph with a 14" prop, you're probably lugging the engine a bit. Top RPM is 5000 (range 4000-5000, 35hp@4500RPM). A tiny tach will tell for sure. But if you first find you go faster with the 12", use it instead. 2-strokes are much happier if they can rev up.<br /><br />I haven't tried the crankcase drain yet, but it shouldn't be hard to do. Get a hold of an old crankcase drain valve, block the dump hole in the valve plate and add a nipple to the cover. <br />Or you could get a cover from a '72+ 40hp, which has two nipples already in place. (this was a conversion to redirect fuel to the combustion chambers rather than dump it overboard (most/all modern 2-stroke outboards do this). Not for fuel efficiency but for emissions. Hunt around here for pics of lark2004's outboard if you want to see it in the flesh.

FYI, Seahorse, a 1957 would be a RD-19. A RD-19C is a 1958.<br /><br />Good luck.

Got an old 40 horse superquiet for parts. Block busted on it when I found it and the feller give it to me.
