^^I'm sorry. Mixing threads -- l.u. reference a mistake. But I do suspect the aluminum damage is pretty substantial.
Try the MarineTex or a similar product.

Hard time finding welder , tried JB weld , lasted two trips blew out . Finally found a machine shop with a welder . Got it welded , I sanded and filed it down , looks good . Put motor back together, ran the best it has ever ran . Adjusted carburetor , runs wide open and very slow idle without fooling around with the settings. Motor starts right up , just touch starter and it fires up, don't have to choke or open carburetor. Maybe it'll last another 64 years.
