hey, i recently purchased a 1957 crestliner viking 14' with a gale 40hp outboard and it has a stingray hydrofoil made for 25hp to unlimited. I just bought a attwood hydrofoil made for up to 40hp and is 4 inches more narrow and dosnt stick out behind the cavitation plate like the sting ray hydrofoil, plus the sides tilt up, will this attwood hydrofoil increase my top speed at all sence the sting ray hydrofoil was bigger?

Used correctly.....NO, used incorrectly....possibly.

Neither type should be dragging in the water at speed when used correctly, so drag isn't an issue.

the cavitation plate is a couple inches under water after you get up on plane.

. In that case you will most likely increase your speed by removing it and not installing a different one.
