Sounds like the float needle isn't dropping, did the needle have it's little wire clip attached to the float lever?

75 on both cylinders huh? Sweet! Sounds like you have a nice motor here. Are both needles set right? Low speed, 1 1/2 turns out and High speed, 3/4 turn out? This is a good starting point for those. There's a possibility you make have to go into the carb and make sure a piece of debris didn't get into the float needle assembly or in the fuel passages.

Seems like I made this point earlier?

Back then they didn't have clips on the needles as far as I know, you can add them to help lower the needle when the float lowers, did it on my 55.

my carb did not have the clip it was the needle valve and float but the needle valve that came with the carb kit did but i used the orginal one with no clip but i had to the screw that the needle sit in with the new one that came in the kit. i want thank you guys for the help and going to pull the carb apart tommorrow but do you think that the new screw jet for the needle valve is the wrong one for the needle without clip while kit came with a clip and needle and do you think i should change to the clip one.

When you have the carb off turn it over and try blowing into the fuel intet, now carefully turn it rightside up try again, if you still can't blow through it the needle is stuck in it's seat.

I read this whole thread for this "punch line"!?!?

I did the exact same thing on my first motor! Then I forgot the clip. Got very familiar with carbs on that motor!!:D

Glad she's working now!
