Hi everyone, I have a a 1957 7.5hp that runs just fine. I have got one missing part, though - the hard rubber "nut" that goes on the end of the prop shaft and stops the drive pin falling out. I have it succesfully jury-rigged, but it would look so much better with the right fitting on the end.

Does anyone know a source for these?

Thanks, they have the pins, but not the nuts.

Is it actually referred to as a nut, since it snaps on rather than screws on?

It is part number 303365, called a "cap". Try an Evinrude dealer. Also try www.sea-way.com

nymarine is reproducing those now. I can only assume it's because they're no longer readily available?

Thank you. I'm buying some from N.Y. Marine. Getting a few because the shipping costs more than the nuts :)

"If you loose a nut you've lost the prop too right? "

No.

If you lose the prop nut (Or prop cap as they call it) on these motors, then you lose the drive pin, but the prop stays in place - it just doesn't spin. There's a cotter pin that stops the prop sliding off the end of the shaft.
