I snapped a piston ring on my piston on my 1957 FD-11 and I’m thinking about buying a used piston off eBay but the only pistons available at the moment are for the 1960 Fastwin 18hp.

Are the pistons different on these models.

Additionally the piston I removed has three piston rings rings but when you look at the omc piston It looks like there was only two spaces for the piston rings.

The photo with the piston and the box is from the parts website as the piston (which is unavailable) and the other photo is of the pistons I took out of my outboard.

Thanks for any help.

?? Is your piston damaged?
It’s not perfect but I am not experienced enough to know if it’s so bad it should be replaced.

The piston definitely has rust marks where it was seized and rusted to the block but all the major marks are below the rings.

Book sez 376992 fits FD-11
377262 fits FD-12 thru FD-14
378278 fits FD-15 thru FD-18

All are replaced by 385338. I believe the main differences are the rings, the latest having the tapered pressure-back rings.

Thank you for all that info! The part number for just the rings is 300050 but I can’t find those anywhere.

To be clear, I was going to purchase the used pistons because they came with the rings I need to replace, but I’m much more interested in just the rings.
No, you want to use new rings, not old rings that are worn to a different cylinder
