Hello again, and another request for advice....
I have dissasembled the lower unit to change all the seals, because my L/U oil was emulsified. After removing the skeg and lifting out the propshaft, I expected from the manual that the bearing housing would simply slide off the end of the shaft, and I could then pry out the old bearing. However, it won't come off. It slides down the shaft till the hole for the drive pin is just about to disapear into the seal, and stops. It's a 'hard stop' too, it doesn't stick there, it just won't go any further.
I haven't put any real force onto it, so it 'might' just be a burr that's catching and a tap with a hammer will remove it. On the other hand, I 'might' have missed something and a tap with a hammer will break it.
So, since it's late anyway, I figured I'd leave it for tomorrow and ask the assembled wisdom of the listmind what I should do?
Thanks,
Richard
