I recently aquired an outboard motor 35hp Johnson/Javelin with an old boat. The model # is: RJE-19M Serial # 1668916. It appears to be missing wire harness that plugs into side of motor, and a gear at the end of the twist throttle. Other than the aforementioned, it seems to be complete as far as parts. Is this a 1957? If anyone has info on where I might obtain these parts, I would be thankful. Also need the spark plug type and gap, as well as fuel/oil mix ratio.
Thanks!

Howdy, Manlope.

Yup. It's a 1957.

www.twincityoutboard.com probably has parts. You can do a search for old parts and find more links.

Good luck. :)

Parts and parts motors appear on ebay regularly.
NAPA may have ignition and cooling parts etc.
They have a 600 page Marine products catalog
with 87 pages of E/J parts.

Good luck with your Javelin and finding parts. They are available in many places. I recommend Sea-Way Marine out of Seattle, Washington (http://www.sea-way.com/). I've had some bad experiences with Twin City Outboards. They sell used parts at almost new prices...you are better off by buying a new part than dealing with someone elses problem child. Don't get me wrong, they have quite a selection, but tolerances are important too. Have a good one!

Thankyou all for the info. Guess I'll get started working on this motor. :)
