Have a RDE 19 that I have rebuilt lower unit. Last thing I need to do is to change the water scoop screen. I haven't figured out how to remove the plug that holds it into the scoop. Thought that I could take a pin punch and knock it out, but I wanted input from this forum to see if there was a trick to removing this plug. Thanks in advance for any help!

I've never done it or had to do it. Why are you changing the screen? Is it damaged? I've included a pic of the LU from the rde19. It shows the screen and the plug. To remove it I'd probably do as on the carb. Punch a hole and pop it out. You will need a new one though.

Hammer and a punch by the looks of it, looks like a welch plug, can't be sure. Ya, why are you replacing the screen?

The replacement plug is about 3/8 inch long and it appears the plug in the housing is the same length.

Yea, I have never seen this one replaced before, but if it's toast......then it's a good idea to do so.

replacement is flat on one end and chamfered on the other, about 3/8" maybe less.
