I just purchased a used tri hull boat that came wiht a 1957 Sea King motor on it.Model # GG8960A Serial # 75X662705 I would like to know some pros and cons about this motor. I would also like to know where i can get some parts for this motor. .Is there a repair manual like the selco for these motors. I have been told that I can look at the old Evinrudes and get parts for this motor is this true.Any help I can get for this motor would be greatly appreciated. I plan this summer to do a complete rebild on this motor just need to know where I can get the parts. The next question is can I put a external gas tank on this motor.

Re: 1957 Sea King

This is a 5 hp built by Gale devision of OMC.
It does share some parts with the similar E/J 5.5 hp.motors.Routine service parts are available right here at iboats as well as many other places including well established E/J dealers. These parts would be listed under the E/J models.
These are fine motors Other than requiring 24:1
fuel mix I can't think of any drawbacks.I believe it is possible to convert to a remote tank. You might try a search using the words
omc tank conversion etc.Someone should be along with more info.
I had one in the 70s and it was smooth reliable
and peppy for a little motor.
