The old O rings that do the sealing, are probably hard as a rock. Getting them out is a lot harder than putting them in. push down on the spring loaded pins with a nail or small screw driver,I use a sharp dental style pick to dig them out. Usually they will come out in pieces, but patience will prevail. Make sure the groove they sit in is clean. To install the new rings put some outboard oil on them and sqeeze them in the hole while pushing down on the spring loaded pins. These are fatter than a normal O ring, I got mine from a dealer for about three bucks.

They are often so petrified that they are next to impossible to get out. When that is the case, it is easier to take it apart.

Use a "long series" allen wrench that just fits through the hose nipples as a tool. Grind the L leg off the wrench and use the long part. Put it through the nipple and use a hammer to knock the brass retainer out the other end. Anything weaker than an allen wrench will bend.

For replacing normally soft o-rings, a home made wire hook works well. Trick is finding a strong enough piece of wire.

Dental picks work great. Our local auto store sells em for a few bucks for a kit of 3 or so.

To answer the question from your other post that was shut down, CD-14 is a 1957.
