Ooohh yea, gotta love the old Fat Fifty's. They were a monster for the time. They actually weighed a tad bit more than the old Big Fours (50hp) from the '40's

Yeah. they are big...and thirsty sometimes. They will suck a six gallon tank dry in no time at WOT. Get help when moving one. I can bear hug one and move a short distance, but I outweigh them by 50 lbs. Lots of low end torque but not known for speed. Hmm...fat 50, big, heavy, sometimes thirsty, low end torque, reliable...think I may have found a new signature for my board username.

Ever try lifting one into a test barrel by ones self? Stupid Idea, lol.

I could barely get my 58 35hp Lark Long Shaft in last week.

Yep, those Big Twin class motors are my absolute limit too. LOL

I couldn't run the Fat Fours unless they're on a boat and I put the barrel under them :D

Thirsty sometimes? LOL They'll outdrink three wild Irishmen in a pub. :D:D

Yep, I don't do the bear hug much anymore since I got an engine hoist off the craigslist ads...best $75 I've ever spent and gives me leverage to do lots of stuff. My fav motor tub is a 55-gal. plastic barrel I got from the car wash guy...they get their soap, etc. in bulk.

Happy New Year to you too. Have fun with the Fat Fifty. Those are actually cool old motors and pretty good too. If you decide to add more horsepower to that bugger, you can use a powerhead from a 1960 75hp and instantly get 50% more power. :D
