My dad was given this boat by a friend of his and I have decided to restore it. Not going to go back completely original but we'll see what happens as the project progresses. Motor was supposed to have been last ran a few years ago. Needs a new float for carb, have that off right now. Needed a new starter relay and ignition switch. Going to get a kit for the carb and get the motor running, then start on the boat. Should be a fun project. Will post updates as work is done.

This might be the wrong place to ask, but does anyone know if I can re-varnish the float in the 35 or a place to buy a new one. NAPA doesn't carry them and the local boat repair places ack like I'm the devil for even asking them.

Welcome aboard!

Sweet looking old tinnie and something completely different!

There is also a place in Fox Lake, Illinois. Dicks Marine, he does have a website and has been around sense the 1950s. He's helped me out many times with old parts.

Beautiful boat!

Post up in the Johnson/Evinrude section and they'll tell you where to find your motor parts.

Got the new float in and put the carb all back together and it fired right up and idled. Going to make sure the drain plug seals and might take it out this weekend.

Sweet. Glad you got her running. I've got the same boat (minus the cap and windshield). I converted it to a fishing boat, but I love it. Very shallow draft and lots of space. Good to see another Arkansas Traveler owner in the forums. Happy boating.

That is a great looking boat. I just came across a boat that I believe would be like kfa's. It looks just like yours, only it doesn't have the cap and windshield. As you make progress on your restore, please post lots of pics! :) I look forward to watching your restore.

Here's what mine looks like now. The irst two are the "Before" the next two are the "After" and the last one is sort of a breakdown on what I used. Nothing special or pretty, but it works great. I just used sealed, 3/4" plywood, SS fasteners and aluminum angle to buile the casting deck and bench seats. I got all the stuff I needed at the local HD/Lowes and I think all told it cost less than $200. Again, very cheap, very country, but very practical too. Keep us posted.
