Hey ya'll. I'm looking for info on my outboard. Model # 35DE10B Serial # 729795. As of now the impeller seems to be fine but its been in there at least 8 years, at least thats what I was told. I am needing the part #. The old motor seems to run fine other than at top end it seems to surge a little like its starving for fuel. Hooked a hose up to it (I have the original adapter) and adjusted the high and low as they were turned way out and it seemed to do fine on the hose, hopefully it will do the same in the water. It has 125 psi in the top cylinder and 120 psi in the bottom. It wouldn't hurt to put a carb kit in it, I was told it still has the cork float in it. What gas/oil mixture should I run in it, am currently at 50:1.

Had one of these when I was young, my Dad rebuilt em for fun and a little extra money....they drink fuel and I would TRY 40:1 and see what it does to the plugs, I always got away with it... watch your tank close, these things DRINK like they run...hard.

i just bought a 58 johnny 35. same basic engine. laingsoutboards.com has 99% of the maintainance parts. reasonable, great to work with. if you don't see it on the site, call them. don't rip you on shipping either. if it has the cork float replace as the get saturated, and dry rot, if left dry. this link will make it run like new. remember on the hose you have no back pressure on the exhuast. so idle needs to be set higher than normal on the hose, or it won't start when in the water. a decarb probably will give it new life also. probably has never had it done.

Have you replaced the coils yet? If not, that is probably the cause of your surging problem. They are always bad if not already replaced. They have new ones here at i-boats. The impeller too.

You can just use the parts lists for 1957 Johnson or Evinrude motors for 99% of anything you might need.

Thanks for the reply's. What is a "decarb"? I'm a newbie on outboards. Also on the impeller I've been told there are 2 types for my outboard as some of that model of that year have a thermostat others didn't. Where is this located and what does it look like.

Gales do not have thermostats, except on the 60hp. The impeller for your motor was 375808, superceded by 378891, superceded by 775521. OR, Sierra/i-boats 18-3006.

Decarb means chemically cleaning the carbon out of the cylinders and rings.
