I recently received a 38hp Haiwatha in a trade, and seems they only made those hp in 1958, if anyone can confirm that?
Also, I am not really a mechanic, but, it seems to turn over fine with good compression, and is in pretty nice condition, although I have not tried to start it.
Is there a market for this seemingly rather rare motor? I'd like to get it to someone that understands these vintage motors and get a fair price for doing so.

Hiawathas were made by Gale, Scott-Atwater and Eska, depending upon the year. Yours was a Scott. A 38 HP model was made in '58 and '59. 1959 was the last Scott year.

Its "rare" in that probably not many were sold, and even fewer survived. There would be little to no interest as a runner. Its collectability is limited - Many "collectors" want 5-10 HP models. Common tune up parts can be had; other parts may require some searching.

If all of the parts are there and functional, its worth in the $50 - $200 range. Need a pic to get any closer.
