This little motor just keeps stumping me. Fixed the spark issue and tried to fire her up for the first time. The only way it will run is by spraying fuel in the cylinders. Carb is spotless with a full kit in it, including welch plug. It won't run by spraying fuel through the carb with the butterfly wide open. Basicly spraying the reed plate, won't do anything. Spray a little in the cylinder head and she fires right up and sounds smooth for the second it does run. I pulled the reeds out and they are spotless with no cracks. Would crank seals cause this?

Can you flood it by soaking the plugs? Is the diaphragm new? Float adjusted properly?
Jets sized properly for your altitude? Your problem is fuel delivery. Are the tank, hose, connectors and plugs all good and correct?

It does not have a pump. Right now I am filling the carb bowl with a bottle hooked to a hose. The carb is full of gas. Like I said it won't fire if I spray fuel into the carb. It acts like its not creating vacumn to pull the mixture through the reeds.

Are you using a twin line pressure tank?

Getting ready too buy the pressure tank or do the conversion. I left it choked for about ten pulls, and it finaly pulled fuel in and started running. I t does have a lean sneeze, but since I don't have a fuel delivery, I am going to leave it alone until I do. I filled the carb with a peice of fuel line hooked to a bottle with a gear lube pointy cap. LOL, gotta do what you gotta do. I have a 2005 Pro Crappie 175 that I fish out of, I just play with the old ones for fun. Thanks again guys. Happy Thanksgiving

If it's not creating vaccuum to pull the gas into the venturi, then I would check the reed valves.

Capt'n Chris: These motors have adjustable high speed and low speed needles, so altitude wouldn't be a factor here.

You may have to pull your carb apart again and double check your passages and make sure everything is clear. Was the float and needle installed properly?

But yea, check the reed valves out. If it's not sucking air into the carb, then something is wrong there.

Thank you Sir, I got it going. The back side of the reed plate was a little cruddy. I pulled it all apart and cleaned it all up. I need to decide if I am going dual line or fuel pump conversion.
