Razor, you can get the standard (stock) pump here on Iboats.

Is is as simple as bolting a fuel pump to the motor and hooking up the hoses?

1959 did not have a fuel pump unless it has been converted. Stock setup was a pressurized gas tank. Yes it can be converted and there are a couple of ways to do it. But none is a simple plug and play.

The hard part to find is a by pass plate, I believe it is called. It is the plate on the side of the motor where the fuel pump bolts and gets its vacumn. I have done it with copper tube and jb welded it into the existing by pass plate and used a lawn mower fuel pump. If you find the correct by pass plate it is a bolt on. Some one has a real good article on this conversion some where on the internet.
Good Luck,
Flintcreek.

thanks so much for the replys. I think I will stick with the original tank and do the carb kit. One last question. On my old tank that is in good shape. The filter come off in the bottom of the tank and I can't budge the screws to get the top plate off of the gas tank to put the filter back on. Can I put a fuel filter in the line going to the motor? I can't imagine this will mess up the flow of gas.
