Hi everybody, its been about two years since my last question. Guess what? its the same problem I had two years ago. I have the above mentioned motor and I tried to remove the head to check for water blockage. In doing that I broke off many bolts. I have all but two taken care of. The two I don't have taken care of are below the lower pan lip so I am not able to get at them. How do I remove the lower pan/shrowd to be able to get at them? I am now on my last couple of days of vacation and really don't want to spend a bunch of money to fix this thing. I am almost ready to sell it if anybody would even buy it at this point. I am very frustrated with the whole thing.:grumpy:
Any help would be greatly appreciated. :help:
God Bless.

You can't remove the lower pan. You have to remove the whole powerhead. It really isn't a hard job, EXCEPT when the screws are all stuck, as you have already discovered.

Okay, I have come to the conclusion that I am not supposed to be messing with this motor anymore. In its present condition what do you think a fair price would be for this motor? I thought of trading it in but I am not even sure they would want it. All I know is that I am done messing with it. Not sure if I could get it fixed for less than a decent used motor or not.
Any help with ideas would be appreciated.
God bless all.

Fair price for a common 55 year old broken motor? Not much. Maybe $50-75 if the lower unit is good. Highly doubt a shop would give you anything in trade.

And lighten up dude. It was a holiday weekend. The folks here were likely busy elsewhere, eating burgers, lighting off fireworks, using their own boats.

In my opinion, $50 would be generous for a non-runner with a bunch of broken head bolts. And then only if I needed a parts motor.
