Hello all, been a member for two years, first posts tonight. Bought a 1959 queen sixteen w/1966 60hp Envinrude SportFour from a kid back in 2012 who said that he bought it from the original owner. all of the plates, transom, gauges are all original. The story goes that the original owner was part American Indian. If you look at the dash, you can see a chief head that he carved himself. I thought is was cool, so I kept it. It's not an factory exact restoration, but pretty close. Anyone want to know some do's and don'ts about polishing and painting aluminum, (especially the don'ts). I'm your man.

I love the look of Polished Aluminum but...from what I have experienced I don't like the maintenance!!!:blue:
What do you do, have you done, to keep her looking all shiny and new???????

+1 to that, I'm sure many here would like to know your processes for both painting and polishing.

WOG, After some trial and error, the two keys I found to keeping her looking good are 1) Give the polished parts a good wiping with a slightly damp towel after docking, this keeps the water spots from setting in. 2) Keep the boat covered, especially the bow. Dust particles, bird droppings. rain, when they dry are difficult to rub out. After I learning that, I haven't had to polish it nearly as much. I won't lie, there is always rubbing to do here and there, no way around that. But that's the price of going with the polished look.
