Re: 1959 Crestliner

Making a little progress as the weather has finally cooled off here

of course my "honey do" list is taking precedence

Was wondering what to use to try and remove the adhesive the PO used to attach carpet in the boat. Unfortunatley he went so far as to carpet portions of the interior aluminum

Any thoughts regarding removing this junk and cleaning the interior hull would be appreciated

Re: 1959 Crestliner

Just caught this thread, it is interesting, you should mention the big boats(hydros) When I was 16, many moons ago, before I entered the army, I worked for a company called Squire Shop, it was a clothing store, sold all of the jeans of the day, I ended up traveling all over the country taking pictures of hydro races for them, they had a boat call the Ms. Squire, then there was the Ms. Atlas with Bill Muncey, and the Budweiser, which was piloted by Dean Chennowith..the pilot for the Squire was Chip Hanauer, knew all of those guys real well, ended up going to dinner with Dean's Son, the night before Dean was killed trying to set a new speed record..

Man, that sure brings back some long lost memories!

Wow, bet you have more stories to tell regarding the boat races

I really enjoyed seeing them in person, kinda takes your breath away watching 200 MPH + machines

was really cool watching the older vintage boats as well

You might want to take a road trip down here next year

Re: 1959 Crestliner

I will be heading through that way in December to spend the holidays with my and my wife's family in Vancouver, WA and Portland, Or.

I tried to pick that boat up you commented on, about 10 days ago, and got the cold shoulder, my wife said, you just got one last week, what do you need another for????????????????????????????????????

With that look that only a wife can give you!

Taking ownership of what must be a '58, 17' Flying Crest. Inherited from Uncle. Title says '57, but according to what I can find the FC did not come out till '58. It is all there, but pretty rough. Setting outside for many years. Hull paint job was brushed on. It has got to go. Cool deal is the inside is the black speckle paint still. Windshield still there. Not sure about the motor, we'll see. It's a 1964 40hp electromatic. Wish you the best on yours.

Re: 1959 Crestliner

Finally had a few nice days here and getting the itch to uncover the boat and get to work again
Been awhile since I have posted but I have spent the winter accumulating supplies

today I picked up some new marine grade carpet off Craigslist
4 yards of 8 foot wide carpet for $35

Seems to be exactly what I wanted, hopefully I got a good deal as it was in the original packaging and was labeled as marine grade
