Well no, unless you hit something pretty bad. It is a drive pin as I mentioned, made of harder material than a shear pin.

Your impact is taken up by the shock absorber located beneath the water pump inline of the drive shaft.
thank you people told be about it, it's not like my Evinrude and like the other OMC motors I have had, it doesn't pull up out of the water like them, seems to stay locked to the transom but for being 54 years old it runs like new and starts cold usually on one pull

it should tilt up out the water like any other outboard. either you have it in the "lock" setting or, the mechanism is seized/broken, or the hinge is seized.
