Thanks for the help. I have a few problems.

1.) start bushings are needed.

2.) It seems that only plugs 1 & 3 are firing. I have spark to all the plugs. Plugs 2 & 4 don't seem to be getting gas.

Thanks again

Which bushings do you need? They are all available from any Evinrude dealer. However, except for one of them, they are not available separately.

381582 top end plate assembly
278242 commutator end head assembly
382959 drive housing and bushing assembly
305068 drive bushing, lower.

Your motor has a two-barrel carburetor. Each barrel feeds two cylinders. However, they share a common float bowl.

Before you get into that, check the compression. Also, make sure the spark plug wires aren't swapped on 2 & 4.

Thanks! It runs! I have two other questions.

1.) How do I set the low speed settings.

2.) How do I set the High speed settings.

Set the high speed first. You will need another person to drive the boat.

For initinal settings, lift the high speed adjuster pointer straight up, then rotate it so that it points forward, and release. That disconnects it so you can adjust the needles individually. Now screw the needles all the way in, then back them off 1/2 turn, plus two clicks. You will feel the clicks as you turn them. Also, loosen the screw in the center of the slow speed needles and pull the knobs straight off, then turn them upside down (limiter "bumps' up) and reinstall and tighten the screws. Now screw them in all the way, gently, and back them off 1 and 1/2 turns.

Ready to go?? With motor warmed up and hood on, run at full throttle and slowly turn one of the high speed needles to the right, till it starts to lose power. Then back it off to the left till it regains power. Repeat with the other one. Now lift and return the pointer so it points to the rear.

Slow down to slow idle and do the same with the slow speed needles, one at a time. When you are satisfied, remove the knobs and put them back on, right side up, pointing left and right.

Recheck the performance. If high speed doesn't seem quite right, just move the pointer left or right to fine tune both needles at the same time.
